The TCS New York City Marathon is one of the world's largest and most prestigious marathons, covering all five boroughs of New York City. Organized by New York Road Runners, it attracts elite athletes and runners of all abilities from around the globe.
The course spans the five boroughs of New York City: Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Manhattan. It involves running over several bridges and is primarily on paved roadway, through city streets and avenues lined with enthusiastic crowds.
The course is mostly flat but features notable elevation changes, particularly at the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge start and other bridge crossings. Some gentle hills are present in Central Park toward the finish.
