About Megan

I've spent my entire life as an athlete, from winning the World Championships to running dozens of Boston Qualifying races. I love racing and I want to share how I've cultivated a passion for it. I've also worked as a coach for many years, including 15 years at the D1 level, and my favorite thing to do is watch people fall in love with the fastest version of themselves. I'm dedicated to your success, from hearing your goals, to making a plan that fits your lifestyle, and ultimately helping you across the finish line in any and every way. In 2026, I ran the Boston marathon in 2:56 and finished 6th in my age group. I won the Mississippi Run for the Rainbows half marathon in a time of 1:24 and finished third female overall in the Garmin half marathon in Durham with a time of 1:24. In 2025, I ran the Boston (2:59), London (3:02), Cincinnati (2:57) full marathons, Carolina Reaper 50k Ultra (3:34 and first place overall for men and women), and Wineglass FM (2:58 and first place masters). I finished the year with a 2:57 at the New York City Marathon and a personal best of a 2:53 at the California International marathon this December. I placed third in my age group at CIM and top ten for NYC. I've recently coached myself from a 3:50 marathon (January 2024) to 2:53 at CIM in 2025. Furthermore, I was able to accomplish running 3 marathons, averaging under 3 hours, in 13 days thanks to the principals I learned under the Jack Daniels program. In 2024, I ran 12 full marathons including 1 Ultra and 8 Boston Qualifying times. Some of my races included the Berlin Marathon, NYC Marathon, Kiawah (winning the masters event), San Francisco and Grandma's. I also won the master divisions of the Hillsborough HM and Bull City Run Fest HM. Prior to running, I was an avid rower and competed on 6 National Teams for Team USA. In 2006, I was fortunate enough to win a World Championship and set a world record that stood for a decade. After finishing my elite rowing career in 2008, I turned to coaching. I coached at the D1 level for 15 years, including working as the Head Coach at Duke University and as the Associate Head Coach at University of Wisconsin. My passion for running started in High School on the XC team. I stayed with it my entire life and I reignited my love for racing after my third son was born in 2020. In the last several years, I've taken on dozens of private running clients and helped them achieve the impossible, often times using my personal experiences to guide them to success.

Working with Megan has been an absolute game-changer and I cannot recommend her enough. I'm training for my fourth marathon this year and took the leap to work with Megan because I wanted to see how far I could push myself (previous years I trained on my own and/or with an app) and let me tell you: we hit the ground running starting day one, and I've never been healthier OR faster, and I attribute this to Megan's coaching and feedback. Anyone can use an app or AI to develop a training plan, but it'll only get you so far. NOTHING beats having a real person in your corner, with real-life experience also training for these races. Megan reviews my workouts and intricately adjusts my plan based on what she's seeing. I would have never thought I could push myself as hard I as am in this training block, but she has the experience and knowledge to know that what she has planned for me is reasonable, and I put my full trust in that. That's not something you can say about an AI-generated plan. I've thoroughly enjoyed my training block with Megan so far - we're half way through and honestly I don't want it to end! If you are thinking about hiring a coach... this is your sign to go for it. You will not be disappointed working with Megan!

What I really appreciated ... I can’t recommend Coach Megan enough! I used her 18-week marathon training program to prepare for my first marathon, and the experience was incredible from start to finish. What I really appreciated was how personalized the training was. We built a plan around my daily running, and as I got stronger and faster throughout the program, Coach Megan adjusted my workouts and goals to match my progress. It never felt like I was just following a generic training plan she paid attention to my performance and made changes when needed. Coach Megan also pushed me outside of my comfort zone and helped me believe I was capable of more than I originally thought. My initial goal was simply to break 4 hours, but with her coaching and encouragement, I ended up running a 3:45 marathon! That’s something I honestly wasn’t sure I was capable of when I started the program. If you’re looking for a coach who will personalize your training, hold you accountable, and push you to reach goals you didn’t think were possible, I highly recommend Coach Megan!

I first worked with Coach Megan in college when she helped to coach my crew to a second place finish at NCAAs. When I saw she was starting her own coaching program for runners, I knew working with her again would be life changing. After a couple years of struggling with some health conditions struggling to commit to a training plan, I signed for a half marathon with a goal to be faster and healthier than I had been in a decade. The system, support, and expert advice that Coach Megan provides allowed me to build habits and to train smarter than I had in a very long time! You will learn a ton working with her. I ran two of my best half marathons ever this year, and set a PB in July!

For the first time ever, I have a plan that’s sustainable, well-planned and gets me closer to achieving my goals week by week. A big plus for me is also Megan’s style of coaching; direct but not blunt; adaptable; i.e. straight to the point or nuanced; depending on what’s required and she also has a great sense of humor. I recommend her guidance to anyone looking to improve their running skills, whether you’re starting out, or have been running for a while. She’ll only make you better

What makes her such an incredible coach is how deeply she cares about the people she works with. From our very first conversation, I could tell she genuinely took my goals to heart and was fully invested in helping me achieve them. In less than six months of working together, she's helped me achieve PRs in both the marathon and half marathon - times I honestly never thought were possible. Now I need to set even bigger goals! Megan strikes the perfect balance between being supportive and pushing you when it matters most. She knows exactly when to challenge you, and she does it in a way that's incredibly motivating. Improving isn't always easy, but she has a unique ability to make you believe you're capable of more than you thought. Every tough workout and every race has helped me realise I'm stronger than I gave myself credit for. Her knowledge is second to none. Whether it's a running niggle, nutrition, race strategy, training adjustments, or recovery, she always has thoughtful advice backed by experience. She a real running guru, and it's reassuring knowing there's always a solution when something comes up. I have complete confidence in her expertise. I have a demanding full-time job, and Megan has been the best partner to have in my corner. When I'm anxious about upcoming travel or work projects, she's always a calm voice of reason, helping me figure out my schedule so I can still prioritise my runs. It’s been a game changer for staying positive and consistent. More than the results, Megan has completely changed the way I think about running. She's given me confidence, helped me trust the training process, and shown me that I'm capable of far more than I ever imagined. If you're looking for a coach who genuinely cares, knows exactly how to get the best out of you, and will be your biggest supporter every step of the way, I couldn't recommend Megan more highly.

Her coaching has transformed my training and my racing. Her advice has been indispensable (what to think about during tough quality sessions, how to fuel, how to taper, how to start the first few km of a race, how to mentally tackle a big race, all the things) and her support has been so wonderful. I am very grateful for her and would highly recommend her coaching.

Megan... I came to Megan with a high-level rowing background, a running habit, and a marathon goal that was either realistic or delusional depending on the day. She figured out which one pretty quickly. Megan builds plans that are actually calibrated to where you are, not where you think you are. The VDOT-based structure made immediate sense — workouts with purpose, paces with logic behind them, and adjustments when the data warranted it. Within a few weeks I was hitting threshold sessions well ahead of target and running long with marathon-pace miles at the end that felt controlled rather than desperate. The proof: a 1st overall finish at a local 5K in 18:47, and a 17+ mile long run with goal-pace miles embedded that left me feeling like my marathon goal is within reach rather than a long shot. That last part might be the most valuable thing she's delivered — not just fitness, but a credible plan I can trust. She also knows how to work with athletes who are wired to do more. When I'm itching to add mileage or push harder than prescribed, she doesn't just say no — she explains why, grounds it in the plan, and reminds me that trusting the process is itself part of the training. For someone with a high-level athletic background who is used to grinding, that kind of communication matters. Megan isn't a hand-holder — she's a partner. She expects you to do the work and shows up fully invested in the outcome. If you're looking for someone to just hand you a generic plan and check out, she's probably not your coach. But if you have a real goal and want someone equally serious about helping you reach it, you won't regret working with Megan. I'm still in the middle of the training block, but I'm gaining confidence every day. I know I'll toe the line this fall more prepared and more confident than I've ever been. That's the real measure.

I’ve always been self trained and based my approach on free content I’ve found, or training books I’ve read. Having someone like Megan answer all my questions about my specific training, racing approach and experience, and results (which is hard to get from books or online forums) has been one of the most helpful things I’ve done for my running! She helped me identify my weak points and give me tactical suggestions of how to improve. She’s also just a really cool person and someone who’s super fun to talk to :) Highly recommend!

In spite of taking 11 days off in the month before my race due to an injury, I got a 4:00:45 at my debut marathon! I started running 10 months ago. I’m so proud of the accomplishment and I took ALL of Coach Megan's race advice! What really stood out were the mantras and form cues, splits she provided, the bit of mp and threshold work before the race, carbs only for the days before helped me get everything out of my system before the race, and stopping liquids an hour before kept me from having to use the restroom during the race. Salt tabs came in handy (saved me really). Thanks so much for your help and guidance! I look forward to working together for my next training block.

This was my first time working with a running coach after years of self-coaching and following generic marathon plans. Megan built a customized plan for my 2026 Boston Marathon and adjusted it throughout the training cycle based on my progress. She believed in me, pushed me with new workouts and higher volume, and helped me reach a new level. She also hosted monthly Zoom calls with the group covering topics like training, fueling, and race-day preparation, which added a lot beyond just the workouts. Megan is also a coach who leads by example: crushing workouts herself and always shooting for marathon PRs. The result was a 6-minute PR at Boston and my strongest marathon yet. I’d definitely recommend Megan to anyone looking for personalized and effective coaching.

I started working with Megan at the beginning of February days after running my first ever half marathon with little knowledge of how to train and using an app that just wasn’t really working for me. I reached out to Megan because I was fairly new to running and very curious about what I could accomplish with a coach. I wanted the expertise of a coach and a woman my age who also races and understands female physiology when it comes to training and racing over 40. I’ll get to the good stuff now! In the 12 weeks I trained with Megan, I went from an 11 minute per mile race pace to racing in the 9:50-10:15 per mile pace in my most recent half marathon (May 2026) which resulted in an 11 minute PR from the first half I did 3 months prior (Feb 2026). Megan showed me how to tap into the running potential I never knew I had and that age is truly nothing but a number. I will now be working with her again for my full marathon in the fall!

I found Megan just as I was entering the taper crazies one week out from Boston. I was confident in my build and fueling plan, but as I worked on my race strategy, I became less and less sure of myself. I really needed help getting over the fear caused by a 2025 marathon meltdown. I reached out to Megan on Instagram and she was extremely responsive and flexible in scheduling a Performance 101 talk in the tight timeline before Boston. I wasn’t sure what we could cover in an hour as we had not met or worked together at all. But Megan is a very quick study and so good at communicating, that we were right to the heart of my trouble in minutes. Megan helped me to see that having a strategy for how to handle my emotions in a race was vital. I had to make a plan for when the inevitable negative self-talk appeared. Megan gave me a practical, actionable framework for this, and we worked through ideas that addressed my specific past struggle. She also gave me so many helpful tips and powerful visuals that I will definitely employ. I let everything percolate overnight and I woke up this morning feeling so relieved! I practiced one of our strategies on my run this morning and I was just beaming! I plan to make a pre-race talk with Megan part of every taper!

Just press play. My workouts have been updated and rearranged to accommodate work, kids, life. A lot of effort has gone into my plan. The feedback is quick and helpful, and she even helped with gait analysis, shoe selection and the best flavor Pop Tart. I've enjoyed my time with Megan and look forward to seeing how far she can push me.

I truly can’t say enough good things about Megan! She’s pushed me (safely) to go after the fastest version of myself and actually seeing that progress unfold week by week is SO rewarding and honestly, addicting. She’s genuinely kind, insanely motivating, and always quick to respond with thoughtful, helpful feedback. Every workout has intention behind it, and it shows. Workouts that once felt impossible and intimidating now feel controlled. I’ve never felt more confident in my training or what I’m capable of. Never give up!

I've been working with Megan for the past few months and it has been a great experience so far! She's worked with me to fit my schedule and to incorporate the strength training classes I like into my running routine. I went through a very tough experience right at the beginning of our time together, and she was amazing at helping me navigate how to continue my training through it. I've already noticed a difference, and I'm excited to keep going and absolutely smash my marathon in October!

Extremely responsive, attentive, and clearly invested in her athletes. Every workout has been tailored specifically to my current fitness level and long-term goals, which has made a noticeable difference in my progress. Her passion for running is genuine, and it shows not only in how she coaches but also in the quality of her content—her videos on Instagram reflect a high level of knowledge and attention to detail. Since working with her, my easy pace has become more efficient, and my speed workouts have translated into real, measurable improvement. I’m running faster, with better control, and more confidence. If you’re looking for a coach who is engaged, knowledgeable, and results-driven, she’s absolutely worth it.

She knows running and creates a plan quickly that delivers progress. She stays tapped in to your journey & needs along the way and is very available to support whenever needed. She speaks truth with kindness and exudes a love for running that weaves its way into her plans and communication with her athletes. Monthly team meetings were a fun surprise bonus. In Megan, I have found a coach who leads by example and can get me to where I want to go as long as I show up and do the work.

She puts together weekly plans that actually make sense for where I’m at, and I can feel myself getting stronger and more prepared for my 10 miler in May each week. It doesn’t feel random or overwhelming — everything builds on the last week, and she’s always checking in and adjusting if something feels off. She genuinely cares about my progress and my goals, and that makes it so much easier to stay consistent and trust the process. I’m really grateful to have her in my corner and couldn’t ask for a better coach right now.

I knew that I need to get serious in training for the coming year. I chose to train under Megan for two main reasons: because of knowing others that have been coached by her and the fact I know she is familiar with treadmill running. I have only been coached for two months now, but the experience has been great. Megan is familiar with remote coaching and has amazing results to show from people she has coached and from her own races.

Couldn’t run for a minute to 6 mile easy days now. I always thought of running as a solitary sport, so I never imagined I’d work with a coach. However, once my goals became more ambitious and concrete (a sub-3-hour marathon and a Boston qualification), I realized I needed guidance. I’ve always struggled to know what I’m truly capable of and how hard to push myself in a way that’s both safe and productive. Finding Megan has been incredibly fortuitous. We’ve only been working together for a few months, but in that time my running has improved dramatically. Beyond the measurable gains, Megan has made me mentally stronger. Through long runs with substantial blocks at marathon pace (and faster!), I don't just believe I can run fast while fatigued--I KNOW it! The experience has been transformative, and I believe in myself as a runner and an athlete more than I ever have before. On top of all that, Megan is a genuinely kind and encouraging person. I look forward to our check-ins, and her feedback is always insightful. She’s not only a great coach but a great person. Anyone looking to improve both their physical performance and mental approach to running would be lucky to work with Megan.

Runs are generally feeling stronger (which can be seen in the data). I love the accountability and encouragement to push on (which I definitely have a tendency to shy away from). Megan regularly reviews the numbers and adjusts the training to personalise your experience. Having already ran for 10+ years, I think it's fair to say I've made the fastest progress in the shortest space of time. Looking forward to what's to come in future! 🚀

I’ve been coached by Megan Cooke for about a year now, after spending ages tagging along on her Zwift runs, and I can honestly say she’s made a massive difference to my running. I’ve gone from a 1:46 half to a 1:32, and truthfully, if I actually stuck to the plan properly and took rest days like a normal person, I’ve no doubt I’d be under 90 minutes by now. What I really appreciate about Megan is how patient she is. She never makes me feel bad when I go off-plan or sneak in extra miles — she just quietly adjusts things and keeps me moving in the right direction. She knows her stuff, but she also actually cares, and that’s what makes her stand out. If you want a coach who listens, supports you, pushes you when you need it, and doesn’t judge your wee indiscretions, Megan is brilliant. I’m really grateful to have her in my corner.

We are working towards that goal. Her 1 on 1 coaching and hands-on adjustments make it clear she prioritizes both speed, durability and most importantly marathon sharpening (something i feel i have been missing all these years). She’s always available, no-fuss, and no-ego. One very important factor I look for in a coach is someone that is still racing as I feel the running scene has changed so much with shoes, training methods, nutrition etc. Not only still out there racing she is PR-ing — it feels like she’s in the trenches with me. Highly recommend.

When I first met Megan, I wasn’t a long-distance runner — my runs were all under an hour, and I had no experience in racing. But once starting working with Megan, I ran four half-marathon races, and a full marathon race at sub-4 hours (!), with no injuries. My last half was under 1:38 — a huge improvement. I never thought I could run for these long distances. Megan proved me wrong. She convinced me that I can run a full marathon in sub 4 hrs, and we started a journey of intense but carefully tailored training that Megan closely supervised. She was always there for any questions or advice, and pushed me physically and mentally to achieve my goals! Megan is absolutely an exceptional, hard working coach, that opened a whole new world of opportunities for me. I feel incredibly lucky that I found her, and have the honor to work with her. ‘Gotta Run’ (GR)

Megan has made my workouts feel structured yet personal, and well suited to my fitness level. She has also continually adapted the program when life has made it necessary, making me feel cared for as a person. As an added bonus, Megan is the funniest and nicest person I could wish for in a coach.

At 62 I am an older runner, which means I have had the opportunity to try out a lot of different training plans and training apps. Throughout my life as a mother of 2 athletic sons, and being a weekend warrior as I got older, I have also met a lot of coaches. Megan is one in a million. I met Megan on an online running platform a couple of years ago. Her passion for running stood out right away. The other thing I noted was her kindness and absolute brilliance when it came to helping other runners. Example : Some of my online running mates were getting faster and stronger, quickly. Where I had comfortably left them behind in the past, I was now the one not being able to keep up anymore. They had met with Megan who had figured out quickly what they needed to do, to become stronger runners. The changes I observed in these runners were pretty significant. Megan is also a very humble and fierce athlete herself and is knowledgeable about all things Marathon - she did run a marathon a month last year, I believe... I am currently training for the New York marathon. As I said - I have used many apps and training plans. I was going to use "Runna" for New York - to see what that app is like, until I found out Megan is coaching. Sorry Runna. Deleted that app and signed on with Megan.

I realized I needed help training so I wouldn't get hurt. I finally admitted to myself I couldn't do it alone and hired Megan to coach me on how to get there and to improve my overall time. We started with a consultantation where she asked me what my goals were. She spent a good amount of time understanding where I was and where I wanted to be.
