This plan is designed for experienced runners ready to take on a strength-oriented approach to their marathon training. This 22-week marathon training plan builds to a peak of 85 miles per week with 7 days of running + doubles. Structured around proven principles and specific workouts tested by me and inspired by some of the greatest coaches and athletes in the world, this plan includes a mix of threshold work, long runs with specific segments, moderate-effort aerobic sessions, and race pace development. Every week is carefully balanced to promote adaptation, progressing from a strong aerobic base to marathon-specific sharpening. This plan is best suited for athletes who have previously handled 70 miles per week and are looking to take the next step in performance.
